Dear XebiaLabs community,
We are pleased to announce the release of XL Deploy 7.2.0. Here are some of the highlights.
Lightweight command-line interface
This release introduces a fast, easy-to-use lightweight command-line interface (CLI) for XL Deploy. With the lightweight CLI, you can update your environments and infrastructure items by applying Deployfiles. You can also generate Deployfiles that can be stored in source control alongside your application code.
The lightweight CLI makes it easy for infrastructure automation tools to programmatically update the information stored in XL Deploy; which means that XL Deploy stays up to date as dynamic infrastructure data changes, keeping your Continuous Delivery pipeline running smoothly.
High availability through satellite groups
XL Deploy 7.2.0 enhances the high availability of satellites through a new feature that allows you to combine satellites into logical groups. XL Deploy communicates with the group, rather than individual satellites. This effectively works as a load balancer for the satellites, enabling higher throughput. Any downtime or failure of a satellite in a satellite group is largely transparent to the operator.
Monitoring metrics for satellites
Satellites have been enhanced with the ability to expose key health and performance metrics. This makes it easier to monitor potential issues before they become major issues, thereby avoiding downtime. Metrics are exposed through Java Management Extensions (JMX), an open standard that can easily be integrated into network and application monitoring tools such as Nagios and HP Operations Manager.
Additional features in the new user interface
In the new user interface, you can:
- Start a deployment by dragging and dropping applications and environments into the Deployment Workspace view
- Easily spot configuration issues by comparing up to five configuration items in a single view
- Access all actions that are available for a configuration item directly from search results
XL Deploy 7.2.0 is a short-term support (STS) version that will be supported until it is superseded by the next STS or long-term support (LTS) version. For more information, refer to Supported XebiaLabs product versions.
