XHR Data in plugin to execute an alert.

Now that XLD is html, I have some questions on our capabilities to control the responses a bit more.  I see the XHR Call and the div tag is populated.  When developing my plugin, I realize my output is self contained to just the div tag.  I am wondering if there is something say that I could send to the parent in the DOM so that a function say a simple one

<script>

function displayAletrt(s) {

   alert(s)

}

</script>

Before going down a rabbit hole of discovery, I am wondering has anyone conquered something like this.  There are things I realize I could do which is host the javascript externally and place in the execute in the script and include js in my xhr.

But that would not be my long term goal,  which is to really grab users attention to issues at hand.  Like even send to the XLD div alert.  I think there are possibilities that I have yet to uncover. but in my first lame attempt to make this work, it displayed nicely the javascript src instead of execute.... Love eval's;

To call upon the error box in the upper right hand corner.  if this is not possible please let me know so I can put in enhancement request to a low a popup to use error box to identify to the user that they have an error in their deployment.  using the pipeline flow is not always spooked at for pass or fail but that popup gets their attention quickly and support takes calls. If we estimate in popup theerror and we can put a resolution in there with a line to solution it will allow the used to sunmit to theproper group based on that output.
